David Hollander, Ph.D.

Dave has more than eight years of experience solving problems for the social sector using machine learning and AI. He got his start in the sector working at Foundation Center, one of Candid’s legacy organizations, and is now responsible for Candid’s initiatives in real time data and personalized user experiences.

Dave’s background is in physics and mathematics, having earned Bachelors degrees in both from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in physics from Penn State University. He formerly worked at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland where he collaborated with more than 1800 researchers on the ATLAS experiment.

Dave enjoys communicating the work of Candid’s Data Science team to a broader audience and building trust and transparency around Candid’s AI tools. Outside of work he enjoys making music, both with friends and on his own.
