About Demographics via Candid
Funders are increasingly requesting demographic data from nonprofits to better understand who they are—and are not—supporting. Due to the lack of comprehensive and public demographic data available, this results in a heavy burden on nonprofits to provide the information in a variety of ways and formats.
Demographics via Candid empowers nonprofits to share their demographic data one time (Data1x), on their Candid profile, where it can be accessed and re-used by all. Through this initiative, Candid freely provides nonprofit demographic data to make the granting process quicker, easier, and more efficient.

We encourage funders, nonprofit member associations, and philanthropy serving organizations to join us in standardizing demographic data and reducing reporting burdens on nonprofits. Follow these simple steps to participate:

Sign on as a partner at no charge.
Step 2
Encourage nonprofits to share their demographic data on their Candid profile.
Step 3
Access demographic data via Candid and eliminate custom requests.
Step 4
Claim and update the demographic data section of your Candid profile.
While nonprofits are not eligible to sign on as partners, they can get started right away by updating their free profile. Learn more.
